Tropitone started building furniture back in 1954 when a retired engineer from Lockheed Aircraft, Mr. Bert M Baker, bought Sarasota Redwood Furniture Co. Mr. Baker soon switched from redwood to welded aluminum for his patio furniture construction. Tropitone, from its inception, has been an innovator pioneering ideas that have been adopted as standard by the rest of the industry.

Over the years, Tropitone patio furniture has won numerous design awards and honors from the design community for their bold and visionary furniture. Collections like Somerset, Lautrec and Montreux to just name a few are trendsetting Tropitone styles.
